Psychological Treatment in Aruba
Mente provides specialist psychological treatment in Aruba and Pennsylvania for trauma, addiction, anxiety, and depression, including complex cases where several of these are happening at once.
Where to start
If you already know what you are dealing with, go straight to the relevant page:
For memories that will not stay in the past, childhood trauma, and dissociation.
Support for alcohol and drug abuse, and behavioural addictions such as gambling. Resources are also available for friends and family members worried about someone else.
Panic, phobias, social anxiety, low mood, burnout.
Psychological Assessment
Diagnostic Assessment, second opinions, evaluations, and psychological reports.
If you are not sure which applies, or if you relate to more than one of these, that is common. Book an appointment and we will work it out together.
What makes this practice different?
We are specialists, not generalists
Often, mental health issues are not limited to one issue or set of criteria. Trauma with substance use. Anxiety with dissociation. Depression and drinking. We work to treat multiple domains to create effective treatment plans that create relief and resolutions.
We treat the combinations
This is not the right place if you are in crisis, need to go into the hospital, or need medication as the main form of treatment. We do not offer medical detox, inpatient care, medication management, or crisis services.
First Appointment
We take the time to understand what brings you to therapy, how long it has been going on, and what you want to be different.
Assessment
When appropriate, we provide structured assessments in order to measure progress in treatment so we can both follow along with your growth.
Planning
We prepare a written document indicating what your goals are, more or less how long it will take to achieve these goals, and how we will know it is not working.
Sessions
45-60 minutes. We will usually meet weekly at the start of treatment but we can meet every 2 weeks if that meets your needs better. As time goes on, time between sessions will increase to allow you to practice your new skills.
Ending
Treatment has an end. Once you have achieved your treatment goals, we will talk about next steps. Based on what you’re getting help with, you may elect to continue meeting every few months for maintenance, or you can contact us for sessions as needed.
What Treatment looks like
-
No referral is needed to book directly with us. If you want to use insurance (AZV+ or private insurance such as Citizens or Boogaard) requirements may vary by insurer. We can provide you with information that applies to your specific case before you book.
-
You do not need to know. Choosing the approach is a collaborative process and we will advise you on what our professional recommendations are for you.
-
If these issues are affecting your work, your sleep, or your relationships, that is already enough to warrant an appointment. You do not need to be at rock bottom before seeking help.
-
Yes. Sessions are available in Papiamento, Dutch, and English
